How to Give Yourself a Spa Manicure

Step 1: Sterilize Your Implements. Despite performing this spa manicure at home, soak your tools in alcohol to protect yourself from infection. This is necessary even if you are the only one who uses them.
Step 2: Remove Old Polish. The key to removing heavy coats of fingernail polish is to saturate the cotton ball with the remover and place over the nail for 4 seconds before wiping the paint away. By doing this, you are allowing the solution to penetrate the many layers of polish for easy removal. Acetone is best for acrylic nails and multi-layered coats of polish.
Step 3: Shape Nails. Always file nails in the same direction, never in a back and forth motion; doing so will cause over-porosity. As the nail began to grow out, it will be more liable to splitting or breakage. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of soapy warm water. Set Aside.
Step 4: Apply Cuticle Softener & Clean Nails. Once you have shaped and filed the nails to your liking, apply the cuticle softener or oil to the cuticles. Place hands into water. Then let it soak for some time before using the brush in a downward motion around nail bed and under the free ridge.
Step 5: Dry and Apply Cuticle Remover. Remove hand and pat dry entirely. Take the orange wood stick, wind a thin layer of cotton on its blunt edge, and use to apply cuticle remover.

A Year Older and a Little Less Wiser
In just one year an awful lot has happened, the complete collapse of the world financial system. Barrack Obama became president. My bad-boy nephew has a girlfriend or two. My 24 month old niece is reading thanks to the ‘Your Baby Can Read’ program. And as for me, I have started a new career in writing and in a few weeks will celebrate another birthday. I should have a party. I can merge both a personal birthday party and the concept of a networking event into one; killing two birds with one stone.
Because I’m new in town, I can invite my immediate small circle of family and their friend. I will also invite potential clients, as well as, those people who are connected in the community. Huh, how can I structure the party and invitations to reflect my intentions clearly? I don’t want to appear ambitious or pretentious. I know one thing for certain… the invitations; the favors and decorations will definitely be DIY. My friend Richard suggested that I go online to get ideas for innovative party themes and decorating tips. There is one site I thought had the best and most economical tips , http://www.celebrating-birthdays.com/invitations/index.shtml and also http://www.celebrating-birthdays.com/crafts/flower-felt-bags.shtml. That’s where I was inspired and came up with a great idea. Take a blank index cards and print the party details on them. Go to the dollar store and purchase some cheap aprons. Then pin them on the apron and send as invitations. UHm…It would be great if I could find melon printed aprons….I’ll keep you posted.
