Again, you've spent another annoying night exchanging venomous text messages with your soon-to-be monster ex-girlfriend. The relationship has been rocky for months and you've come to the realization things aren't going to change. It's so out-of-control that you're unable to recall what initially attracted you about her. Your friends never thought she was a suitable match and neither did your mom. She's not the same person you first met. So what was it that fooled you and how on earth did you ended up in a monogamous relationship?
In just one year an awful lot has happened, the complete collapse of the world financial system. Barrack Obama became president.My bad-boy nephew has a girlfriend or two. My 24 month old niece is reading thanks to the ‘Your Baby Can Read’ program. And as for me, I have started a new career in writing and in a few weeks will celebrate another birthday. I should have a party. I can merge both a personal birthday party and the concept of a networking event into one; killing two birds with one stone.
Because I’m new in town, I can invite my immediate small circle of family and their friend. I will also invite potential clients, as well as, those people who are connected in the community. Huh, how can I structure the party and invitations to reflect my intentions clearly? I don’t want to appear ambitious or pretentious. I know one thing for certain… the invitations; the favors and decorations will definitely be DIY. My friend Richard suggested that I go online to get ideas for innovative party themes and decorating tips. Take a blank index cards and print the party details on them. Go to the dollar store and purchase some cheap aprons. Then pin them on the apron and send as invitations. UHm…It would be great if I could find melon printed aprons….I’ll keep you posted.

What's next. I have spent my entire life with the assumption I was going to find a guy, get married and have babies. I'm now...well let's say over thirty and it hasn't happened. I'm not young anymore and surely a little wear-for-tear. But one thing for certain, time is no friend and I better accept my prince is not coming. I have no choice but to pick up and be the hero in my own life. So with much reservation and fear I forge ahead to a new one. What that entails is a mystery to me, but all I know is today I chose life. There's has to be a world beyond being dumped.
